  Possibly baptised 04 FEB 1722 West Hanney, Berkshire, England, son of Henry In 1861 the Eagle Brewery was advertised for sale following the bankruptcy of William Belcher, son of William Doe Belcher. Belcher’s brewery did not sell immediately but according to newspaper reports was sold by private contract to George Bowes Morland and on to Edward Henry Morland, who was now in charge of three breweries. 1826: William Doe Belcher, Esq., is chosen Mayor of Abingdon William Doe Belcher, Esq., was seven times Mayor of Abingdon ; he died in the year 1856.
