SIR HENRY ROWE, Mercer, 2^ s. of Sir Thomas Rowe, {b) of Higham Hall, in Walthamstow, Essex, and of Hackney, Midx., Cit. & Merchant Taylor (sometime, 1568-69, M. of London), by Mary, da. of Sir John Gresham, Mercer (sometime, 1547-48, M. of London), was b. 1544 ; was A. of Coleman Street, 12 July 1596, but transferred to Cornhill, 7 Oct. 1611, till his death in 1612; S. 1597-98; was Knighted, with 17 (c) other Aldermen, 26 July 1603 ; M. 1607-08. He m. (Lie. Lond., 12 Dec. 1573), Susanna, da. of Thomas Kighley, {d) of Grays Thurrock, Essex. She was bur. 31 Jany 1609/10. {e) He d. 12 Nov., & was btir. 17 December 1612, {e) aged 68. M.I. His will dat. 10, pr. 20 Nov. 1612 (96 Fenner). In Strype's continuation of Stow's " London " his monument is thus described : "In the church of Hackney, in a chapel south of the Communion table, the monument of Sir Henry Row and his Lady, represented in effigie, kneeling ; before him a head-piece and gauntlet; before her a bible."

"Here, under fine of Adam's first defection, Rests, in the hope of happy resurrection, SIR HENRY ROW, son SIR THOMAS ROW, And of DAME MARY, his dear Yoke-fellow; Knight and right worthy (as his Father late) Lord Mayor of London, with his vertuous mate, DAME SUSAN, his twice fifteen years and seven; Their issue five, surviving of eleven; Four named here, in these four names fore past, The fifth is found, if Eccho sound the last. Sad orphans all, but most their Heir (most debtor) Who built them this--but in his heart a better. Pie obiit, anno salutis 1612, die Novembr. 12, aetatis 68."
The lady Susanna Roe was buryed the 31 daye of January 1609-10." Daughter of Giles Duncombe, and wife of Sir Henry Rowe the elder. ....funeral of Sir Thomas Rowe, who settled at Shacklewell, and was buried in Hackney church, has been given before: his son, Sir Henry, husband of Susanna before-mentioned, died in 1612, and was buried at Hackney on the 22d of December. ...to his sons, Henry and Thomas, and to his two daughters, he left 2000I. each; to his son Henry he bequeathed also, his capital messuage at Shacklewell, and all his customary lands in the parish of Hackney .. Several children of Sir Henry Rowe the younger, by his wives Ann and Sarah were baptized at Hackney. Sir Henry Rowe was buried Nov. «, 1660; Sarah, his second wife, March 26, 1657... "Mary, Susanna, and Cecilia, all daughters to "Thomas Rowe, Gent. by Anne his wife, the "which three daughters was borne the 16 day of November, and baptized the 21 "day of the fame moneth, 1650."
William Halliday married circa 1600, Susan (or Susannah), the daughter of Henry Rowe, a prominent member of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers and later Lord Mayor (whose father, Sir Thomas, had been an earlier Lord Mayor). William and Susan had two daughters: Anne (born in 1602) and Margaret (born circa 1603). In 1617 he served as Master of the Mercers Company and was elected a sheriff for the year.In February 1618, he was elected an alderman of the City.
