- This is the last will and testament of me Edmund Strudwick of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk Esquire
Ffirst I give and devise unto Sarah my loving wife all and every my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments, parts purparts and shares of messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances whatsoever situate lying and being in the city of London and Westminster or in the city or County of middlesex and in Shipdham in the County of Norfolk or elsewhere within the Kingdom of Great Britain To hold to her the said Sarah my wife and to her heirs and assigned fro ever Subject to the conditions hereinafter mentioned (that is to say)
In the first place I charge the above premisses to and with the payment of all my just debts as I shall owe to any person or persons at the time of my decease
And I do hereby further charge that part of the above premisses in London called the City Esxxxx with the payment of ten pounds a year of lawful money of Great Britain unto Margaret James my servant (as and for her fidelity and carefulness the many years she has lived with me and in particular for her Great care and Tenderness to her mistress during her long illness) by four quarterly payments (that is to say) Christmas Day Lady Day Midsummer Day and Michaelmas Day by even and equal portions the firts payment to begin and be made upon such of the said feast days as shall first happen after the decease of the said Sarah my wife and to be paid her during her life and case a default shall happen to be made in payment of the above annuity by the space of six weeks next after the same shall become due to be paid as aforesaid that then and in such case it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Margaret James or her assignes to enter into and upon the rents houses and premises or any part thereof and the rents issues and profits thereof to receive and take to her or their own property or benfit until thereof she or they be fully paid and satisfied the above annuity and all costs damages expenses which she shall sustain or be put unto by reason of non payment thereof
Also I give and bequeath unto the said Sarah my wife all and singular my goods chattels household stuff plate linen and effects and all other my personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever she payingout thereof all my funeral expenses and all charges attending the execution of this my will
Also I do hereby appoint the said Sarah my wife sole executrix of this my last will and testament
And lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made
In witness whereof I the said Testator have to this my last will and testament contained in one sheet of paper sett and put my hand and seal this eighteenth day of March in the year of our lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy Edmund Strudwick
