The miscellaneous Pleydell family papers described in this section accumulated initially in the hands of Arabella Browne the elder of Minety, daughter of Arabella Pleydell of Minety, who married firstly Joseph Nott of Minety and secondly Thomas Browne of Minety who died in June 1738.
In 1743 her daughter and heiress, Arabella Browne the younger, married William Calley of Burderop House in the parish of Chiseldon, and on the death of Arabella Browne the elder in August 1744 Calley acquired both the Browne and Pleydell family papers. Arabella Pleydell was also the mother of the Revd. William Pleydell of Wootton Bassett.
