- William Pack Edwards left Ashwell for the goldfields of Adelong, Australia in 1865 and after only a few years returned a wealthy man, to build this substantial house for himself and his sister. The house is called Adelong. The keystone above the door shows a carved Emu and Kangaroo, alongside native Australian grasses and the date 1881.

In thc Will af WILLIAM PACK EDWARDS, late ot The Adelong, Ashwell, in tile Country of Herts, England, Gentleman, de ceased.-Application will be made by NATHANIEL EMANUEL, of Tumut, in thc State of New South Wales, Solicitor, the duly constituted Attorney of JANE PACK EDWARDS, the sole Executrix of the Will of the above named deceased, ofter fourteen days from the publication norcot Hint un Exemplification of the Probate of thc Will of the above named deceased, granted In the Principal Probate Registry of the High Court of Justice, to the JANE PACK EDWARDS, on the sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, may he sealed with the Heap of this Honourable Court; all notices may be served at the address of the undersigned, to whom all claims against thc said Estate must he sent in within the said fourteen days.
