The Will of Susanna Walton (late of the parish of Botley in the county of Southton) of the Devizes in the County of Wilts and Diocese of Sarum
In the name of God amen I Susanna Walton of the parish of Botley in the county of Southon widow and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and that all must submit to death and being in perfect health mind and memory praised be God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament herby revoking and making null and void all other and former wills and testaments. Imprimis I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker hoping in the intercession and merits of Jesus Christ my saviour for full pardon and remission of all my sins and as to my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereafter named and which worldly goods as God in his mercy have given me I give and bequeath and devise the same in manner and form following. Item I give and bequeath to Susanna Maton the wife of William Maton the sum of one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne Maton the wife of Peter Maton one feather bed bolster with the appurtenances thereunto belonging over the hall and the feather bed which is over the parlour next the window with the appurtenances to Susanna the daughter of Anne and Peter Maton. Item I give and bequeath to Joseph son of Anne and Peter Matron one feather bed with the appurtences in the same room just by. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Walton the sum of five pounds to be paid her two years after my decease. All the rest of my goods chattels money purse apparel bonds bills credits and whatever else I shall be possessed with at the time of my death my debts and funeral expenses be first paid and satisfied I give devise and bequeath to my beloved son John Walton of the Devizes in the County of Wilts Clerk nominating constituting and appointing him my only and sole executor of this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of September in the year of our Lord 1733.

Signed sealed published and declared by the testator to be her last will and testament and in the presence of us. The mark of Elizabeth Davis Georg. Churcher Thomas Cobb.
January17th 1734 at Devizes this will was proved before the Rev. John Shergold Cerk, master of Arts, lawful surrogate of the Rev. and Worshipfull Charles Naylor Clerk Doctor of Law chancellor of the diocese of Sarum and by him admon and the effects of the testatrix Susanna Walton was granted to John Walton the executor within named being first sworn to the truth of the said will to perform the same and to exhibit an Inv and acct. when thereto required.

Marriage at Deerhurst says of Tewksbury, Gloucestershire. The will of Guy Chapman 1718 and William Chapman(brothers?) both mention their kinswoman Susannah Chapman wife of Reverned Joseph Walton.
