- There is evidence that even as a boy Thomas Woodford had an interest in literature, poetry and chivalry.
On his death in 1507 Richard Blount of Iver, Buckinghamshire, whose daughter Elizabeth Thomas was to marry in c 1520, bequeathed to ‘Maister Wodeforthe … iij bookes in frensh of frossautt’. Jean Froissart's chronicles and poetry were enormously popular, but it is still a noteworthy bequest to a young man, still probably little more than ten years old.
The lawyer Richard Blount provides another connection for the Woodfords with Thomas More. He was a prominent member of Lincoln's Inn at the time that More was admitted in 1496. Thomas More's father John was also a senior member of the Inn...
