If the grocer is correct tha probably can't be Thomas who married Lydia Watts.
Listed as a Grocer at Rye on the 1851 census with his daughter Mary. There is a burial for a Thomas Lancaster in Rye in 1852 and 1863. Is this the correct Thomas Lancaster. One with a wife Elizabeth has a daughter Mary Ann Lancaster born Rye in 1823??
