George Burgess (b 1807) and wife Amelia Chipperfield were in the Axe and Compasses from at least 1851. He is listed as Bricklayer & Bar Shop Keeper Clavering, Hill Green from 1851 to the 1881 census. He is also listed in Kelly's up to 1886. He died in 1888 in Clavering.
