        George Burgess was born about 1780 in Clavering. George died in 1859.
        His sons were William and George Burgess.
        George Burgess (b 1807) and wife Amelia Chipperfield were in the Axe and Compasses from at least 1851. He is listed as Bricklayer & Bar Shop Keeper Clavering, Hill Green from 1851 to the 1881 census. He is also listed in Kelly's up to 1886. He died in 1888 in Clavering.
