EVANS. -March 20, on board City of Hobart steamer, near Lacepede Islands, Captain Herbert Evans, aged 34 years, son-in-law of Captain Watson of this city
MELBOURNE.
Wednesday, [Echo.]-The City of Hobart returned from Lace pede Island yesterday. Captain Herbert Evans, who took the steamer safely to Lacepede Island, burst a bloodvessel two days after leaving on the return voyage. Captain Evans, who was in the prime of life when he died, was formerly in the P. and 0. Company's .service. The command of the steamer devolved on Mr. J. G. Srriith, chief officer, who reports encountering heavy westerly gales with tremendous sea while rounding Cape Leuwin. (14.04.1877)
