MONDAY, JUNE 8, 1812.
Lately died, at Devizes, John Neate, Esq. many years a respectable inhabitant of that borough: his remains were taken to Aldbourne, and interred in the family vault, attended by a numerous circle of friends, who deeply lamented his loss.

-whereas my brother Stephen Neate of Aldbourne, Gent, his father, is lessee from the Dean and Chapter of Winchester Cathedral of the Parsonage of Aldbourne, of which the Tithes of Upper Upham Farm, Lower Upham Farm Leigh Farm...(detailed exlanation of his interest in tithes etc.)

"Lady Frances Winchcomb, by deed dated 30*'' June, 1707, gave to trustees
a parcel of ground in Chapel Street, in the parish of Thatcham, together with
a decayed chapel standing thereon, which she had directed to be repaired, in trust
to stand seised for the use of a school- master, and for 30 poor boys to be edu-
cated therein ; and she also gave to the same trustees a rent charge of 53/. issuing out of the manor farm and grange ot Thornhill, in the parish of St. Mary Westport, Wilts, and out of a close of meadow or pasture ground, in the deed of endowment men-tioned, in trust to pay 2o/....The Estate out of which the rent charge issues is now in the occupation of Mr. Stephen Neat. The school appears to have been opened about the year 1713, and continued open a few years ;
