957 Clerk of the Irish Parliament.

There's a similar descent given in Misc. Gen. et Her., s.5 vol.VII, pp.41 et seq., although it differs in minor details (e.g. 13 seems to be given as Ann, rather than Elizabeth), and gives a few more dates. 49 is stated to be daughter of "Sir ... Phillips" of Picton, Bt, and widow of one 'Meddop'; I did find a Philipps pedigree which gives Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Philipps, 1st Bt (d.1629) by his wife Anne Perrott, as marrying Edward Medhope, clerk of the Irish Parliament, which would seem to fit; 97 is given as daughter of Nicholas St John of Lydiard Tregoze.

At that time there appears at Chapelizod one of the most distinguished soldiers in the Irish wars at the close of Queen Elizabeth's reign, Sir Henry Power, who was afterwards created Viscount Valentia. Power, who became not only the owner of, but a resident, at Chapelizod, acquired first the property there belonging to the Whites, and afterwards was granted, as the assignee of one Edward Medhop, the entire manor, excepting such portion as belonged to Sir John Davies and to the parish church.

Beneath is a shield tinctured bearing the Arms of Gore, impaling May (see p. 13 and n. of History). It is conjectured that as the Winter shield seems out of place here, and not suitable for the Winter Monument, that John Gore caused it to be made, and that it represents the daughter of that monument, and the family of the first wife of John, who is only known by her Christian name of Temperance. Underneath is the second, of white marble, inscribed with very large letters : ' Here Lyeth the Body of Elizabeth Wife of EDWARD GORE Esq*: Ob. Dec r . 6th. 1718.' She was the wife of Edward, second son of the second William Gore, who G.E.O. says was buried February 14th, 1727, so he survived her nine, not three years as on p. 13 of History.

1000 Could it be this family:??
.... In 1314, at the death of the Earl of Gloucester, John de Wintershull, son of William and Beatrice, was holding Burgham. (fn. 36) John perhaps died without issue, (fn. 37) for the manor passed to his cousin Thomas, who died seised of it in 1340. (fn. 38) Burgham was assigned as dower to Alice widow of Thomas Wintershull, (fn. 39) who, a few years after her husband's death, became the wife of Henry de Loxley. (fn. 40) At her death in 1385 the manor passed to her second son Thomas de Wintershull, her eldest son William having predeceased her, and he died seised of it in 1388, leaving a son and heir Thomas (fn. 41) The younger Thomas died in 1400 and was succeeded by his son Thomas, (fn. 42) who, however, left no issue, and the manor passed at his death in 1420 to his sister Agnes wife of William Bassett. She was in possession of it in 1436, (fn. 43) when she conveyed Burgham to trustees, probably in favour of the male heir of the Wintershull family, for Thomas Wintershull died seised of it in 1477, leaving Robert his son and heir. (fn. 44) It returned, however, to the Bassetts, for Richard Bassett died seised in 1509, leaving a son and heir Thomas then twelve years old. (fn. 45) Apparently Thomas died without issue, for at the death of Juliana widow of Richard in 1533 her heir was found to be her daughter Joan wife of Richard Unwyn, then twenty-nine years old. (fn. 46) In 1548 a certain Sir Anthony Windsor and his wife Joan were seised of the manor in Joan's right; (fn. 47) so that probably Sir Anthony was Joan Bassett's second husband. In 1566 Anthony Windsor, son of Joan and Anthony, died seised of the manor, leaving a son and heir Edmund, who was about four years old at the time of his father's death. (fn. 48) In 1592 Edmund conveyed the manor to Sir John Wolley, (fn. 49) who died in 1595. In 1597 Lady Elizabeth, widow of Sir John Wolley, was holding the manor in trust for her son Francis From: 'Parishes: Worplesdon', A History of the County of Surrey: Volume 3 (1911), pp. 390-395.
