Michael Cooke: Muskoka Herald Aug. 25, 1892 " It is again my painful duty to chronicle the death of another old and respected resident of this place in the person of Michael Cooke who died suddenly on Friday evening 12th of August. Mr. Cooke has been a sufferer for several years and although death came
suddenly at last, yet it was not altogether unexpected. The funeral took place on Monday last in the new English Church cemetery, Rev. A. H. Allman officiating. Mr. Cooke was an old soldier in the English army and was up to the time of his death receiving a good pension. He leaves a wife, two sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. Deceased was about 70 years of age."
