        Son of Sir Henry Chamberlain (brother of Lieut-Colonel Charles Chamberlain, CB).
        Born at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 13th September 1822.
        Tablet at St. Paul's Church, Ambala - "Also of Thomas Hardy Chamberlain, Major General (retired) Bengal Staff Corps, who after 37 years service, chiefly in the Thuggee Department, Oude Commission, and in Kumaon, died at Spring Grove, Isleworth, Middlesex, 16th October 1879, aged 57 years. They were faithful servants of their Queen and Country."
