Lived at Upper Upham, Aldbourne, Overtown and Chiseldon. The Browns of Chiseldon and of Horton(Bishops Cannings) are descended from them.
Probably the 'kinsmen' mentioned in the will of Stephen Neate 1717-1755.

[from Administrative History] According to some family recollections written by Henry Brown in about 1920, the Browns of Aldbourne can be traced in the Aldbourne parish registers to the later 17th century. The first to be mentioned is a John Brown, baptised in 1669, who was apparently the son of a Roger Brown who owned some property in Aldbourne. Henry Brown's grandfather and father lived at Lower Upham, co. Wilts. His father, William Brown, bought the Manor house and some adjoining land at Aldbourne in about 1812 and in 1840 took possession of Warren Farm, Aldbourne, where he lived after his marriage on 22 June 1841. When William Brown died on 17 May 1875, Aldbourne Farm and Warren Farm were taken over by his son, also named William, who transferred it to Henry Brown in 1908. Aldbourne Farm was apparently sold in 1904; Baydon Farm, and various other small plots of land in the Aldbourne area, had been sold earlier; Henry Brown remained at Warren Farm until his retirement in 1919, when it was sold.

\_ [from Scope and Content] Release by Richard Brown yeoman of Aldbourne and his wife Mary (daughter of William Gray) to Philip Pearce yeoman of Chisledon: pieces of land (named) in Chisledon.

      FILE [no title] - ref. PR/Aldbourne, St Michael/526/13 - date: 1662-1829
\_ [from Scope and Content] Will (copy) of Lawrence Brown of Newbury, proved 1785, leaving money for the purchase of coats and gowns for poor men and women of Aldbourne. Also, a deed of 1662 conveying land in Aldbourne to Roger Brown and a will (copy) of John Brown, proved 1743; and two deeds and a will, 1822-9, concerning John Shepherd who was a nephew of Lawrence Brown and had inherited lands in Aldbourne under his will. These last four documents do not seem to have any connection with the charity, but the first one may have, and the last three certainly have, a connection with the property and family of Lawrence Brown.
