    3040 Ralph Shirley, eldest son and heir of Sir Ralph Shirley, by Joan, heiress of Bassett of Brailsford, was buried in the chancel of this church, together with his third wife. He was first married to Margaret, sister and heir of Thomas Staunton, of Staunton Harold; secondly, to Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Blount; and thirdly, to Lucy, daughter of Sir John Aston, knight, relict of Sir John Byron, and Sir Bertram Entwissel. Ralph Shirley died in 1466, and his wife Lucy in 1481.
