2166 Name: George Brown Gender: Male Christening Date: 15 Oct 1727 Christening Place: Fyfield, Wiltshire, England Father's Name: George Brown Mother's Name: Rebecca

George BROWN was born circa 1727. He lived at Manton, parish of Preshute, Wilts, on 12 Jul 1754 (yeoman - prob this person, could be his father - leased a copyhold farm at Manton from John Powell Esq of Marlborough for 20 years at £84 a year). He lived at the parish of Preshute, Wiltshire, on 6 Jan 1757. He married Ann CORK/COOK on 6 Jan 1757 at Preshute, Wilts (by licence). After his brother Thomas's death in 1773 he was granted the administration of his estate. He carried on the farm at Ashwick until the lease expired in about 1776 and then lived on the farm at Manton until his death. After his death a case was brought in Chancery alleging that he had "wasted" the inheritance and failed to pay his brother's debtors and legatees. He left a will on 19 Nov 1778 at Manton, parish of Preshute, Wilts (yeoman). He died on 4 Dec 1779 (farmer of Manton). He was buried on 5 Dec 1779 at Preshute, Wiltshire.

Possibly the George Brown of Manton whose wife Ann leaves a will in 1807??

Description Will of Ann Brown, Widow of Manton , Wiltshire Date 15 April 1807

    Possibility?
Marriage at Preshute of George Brown and Ann Cook, of Overton, by licence in 1757.
